I love collaborations! I learn by doing and by watching others. Adrian Wiltse is a very talented jeweler with a lot of knowledge and cool equipment.
Adriane and had I decided to share a vendor space at White Linen Night in the Heights, a longstanding street party that happens in Houston at the height of summer. Why not do a collaboration too, we thought?
We met up on several occasions to design the pieces, drawing pictures and fashioning prototypes out of cardboard. We had a lot of ideas! We knew we wanted to bring together Adriane's signature metalwork and gemstones with the texture of knit.
We worked together to source sustainable materials. We used birch wood, paint, glass orbs, silver wire, keshi pearls, amethyst, rose quartz as well as cotton and Japanese sparkle yarn! Some ideas were successful and others didn't' make the cut.
Adriane was cutting and shaping and wrapping and hardening. I was knitting and sewing and assembling. And we created this! Tell us what you think!
Special thanks to David Tong for photographing the process!
